1.    Analyze parts of the learning activities throughout Module 1.

Learning Activity 1

According to the terms of letters; social function, text structure, and lexicon-grammatical feature, the three letters have similiarities.

In social function, all the letters give information about the personal relationship that want to be built. The first letter is sent to maintain the friendship by asking and sharing latest news. The second letter is sent to have a new friendship and the third is the response of the second letter.

In structure of text, all letters have greeting, main content and closing

In terms of lexico-grammatical feature they use simple present tense and simple past

In first letter we find out date written but in second and third letters there is no date written

Learning Activity 2

The two kinds of announcement have same goal to announce the audience or readers about something that had happened or will happen. In structure, they are quite different. In written announcement, it usually has detailed information as a introduction. While, spoken announcement uses greeting as a introduction. Written announcement is focusing on the punctuation marks to make a good writing but speaker’s spoken announcement is asked to speak clearly so the information will be listened well by the audience.

Learning Activity 3

Analytical Exposition Text is a text that contains the author's detailed thoughts about a phenomenon. This text is included in the argumentative text because it shows an opinion or argument against something. The social function of the text Analytical Exposition is to convince the reader that the topic presented is an important topic to be discussed or received attention by giving arguments or opinions that support the main idea or topic.The main objective in Analytical Exposition Text is to try to convince readers that the topics presented are important topics to be discussed or received by giving arguments or opinions that support the main idea or topic. The Analytical Exposition Text does not only contain one argument, but can contain several arguments that have the same purpose. You can find examples easily in news editorials, advertisement texts, pamphlets, and so on. Generic Structure of Analitical Exposition Text are; Thesis is Introducing the topic and showing the author's position on the problem described, argument is to explain the arguments that support the writer's position more by giving a few facts, reiteration or conclusion is statement of what ought or ought to happen.

Learning Activity 4

Hortatory exposition is a text which represents the attempt of the writer to have the addressee do something or act in certain way. Hortatory exposition is used to persuade the reader or listener that something should pr should not be the case. Generic Structure of Hortatory exposition Text are; Thesis is the announcement of issue concern, argument is reason for concern leading to recommendation, recommendation is statement of what ought or ought to happen.

Learning Activity 1

a)    Strength 

It gives me a completely explanation about the personal letters and tutorial video how to conduct a personal letter.

b)    Weakness

I got a little bit confused to upload assignment for Task 1 because there is no instruction in this activity

Learning Activity 2

a)    Strength 

This learning activity gives explanation clearly about written and spoken announcement.

b)    Weakness

The spoken announcement is not explain clearly with detailed infromation

Learning Activity 3

a)    Strength 

The learning activity shows detail information about analytical exposition. It’s explained detail and showed in video how the analytical exposition is.

b)    Weakness

In this activity, there are threee videos to watch, then give comments in reflection summary. But I did not find out the place to upload. I also have uploaded Task 5 but it didn’t display  “√’ in the item “ table content “.

Learning Activity 4

a)    Strength 

The learning activity shows detail information clearly about hortatory exposition by giving some texts.

b)    Weakness

Unfortunately, this learning activity does not give many example text so we cannot learn much about the text.

This module is very complete. As we can learn many thing about conducting a text, start from; personal letters, announcements, analytical exposition and the last is hortatory exposition. It also has many tasks to know how much the readers know about the materials given. Although, it is complete but it can’t be denied that this module has some weaknesses. As I found in reflection summary in learning activity 3, there is no place to upload our reflections about pronounciation. I also found that I also had uploaded a file in task 5 Learning activity 3 but it didn’t display  “√’ in the item “ table content “. But overall, this is a very amazing module I ever find. Thanks for everybody who had created this module. Thanks for goverment who had made this website.
